Description de la Physicologie 

La physicologie est mon approche de la technique. Elle combine le physique, la psychologie, la pratique de la performance et l’anatomie. Cela permet aux étudiants de mieux comprendre ce qu’est la technique, comment elle peut les aider et comment ils peuvent être davantage efficaces dans leur pratique. À la fin de la masterclass, nous aborderons un matériel plus complexe, en utilisant les principes que nous avons établis. Cela englobera le travail expérimenté debout (standing) et au sol (floorwork), la virtuosité et la précision.

This is my approach to dance technique, it combines looking at physics, psychology, performance practice and anatomy.  Asking the students to get a deeper understanding of what technique is, how it can help them and how they can apply technique more effectively into their practice.  By the end of a week we would be typically trying to do more complex material, using the principals we have established.  That material usually encompasses standing and floor work, virtuosity and precision

Description de l’Improvisation à travers la Recherche :

Nous examinerons comment l’improvisation peut être utilisée efficacement et où se trouvent ses (nos) forces et ses (nos) faiblesses. Grâce à une combinaison de théorie et de pratique, nous essayons d’améliorer notre pratique de l’improvisation et ce à travers du matériel figé (phrases chorégraphiées) et improvisé.

Looking at what improvisation can be used for, how it can be used most effectively and where its strengths and weaknesses are.  Through a combination of theory and practice we try to enhance our improvisation practice, specifically with a view towards making work.  Whether the final work is fixed material or stays improvised.

Le professeur :

Jos Baker est un danseur, chorégraphe, acteur et enseignant. Il a commencé sa formation à l’âge de 7 ans à l’Oxford Youth Dance, puis a poursuivi ses études au Laban Centre de Londres et enfin à PARTS à Bruxelles. De 2008 à 2014, Jos a travaillé pour Peeping Tom en tant que danseur, acteur et collaborateur, principalement avec les productions “32 Rue Vandenbranden” (2009) et “À Louer” (2011). Il a travaillé brièvement pour DV8 Physical Theatre sur la production de “John” (2014).
En tant que chorégraphe il créé la pièce “Contactless” (2020) réalisée virtuellement avec la compagnie de danse “The Human Expression” à Singapour et les pièces “Put Out The Flame” (2019-20) et “The Smallest Little Thing” (2019) commandés par le Hong Kong Arts Festival. Son travail solo comprend “Know it all” (2019), “Of no fixed abode” (2017) “Creature Man Don’Tell Me’ (2008).
Au cinéma, Jos a réalisé plusieurs vidéoclips et courts métrages, plus récemment en tant que danseur et assistant chorégraphique de Damien Jalet pour “Anima” (2019), un projet de Thom Yorke réalisé par Paul Thomas Anderson.
Il enseigne également pour les danseurs professionnels et les étudiants en danse dans des institutions du monde entier : SEAD, Ballet Junior de Geneve, PARTS Summer School, TrinityLaban, The Place, Amsterdam Theatre school, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Codarts, Deltebre Dansa, El Danseu Festival, Henny Jurriens Summer Intensive, Jetsummer, Staatstheatre Kassel, Gothenburg Opera Dance Company, Mark Morris Dance Center et Seoul Dance Center.

Jos Baker is a choreographer dancer, actor, and teacher.
He started his dance training at the age of 7 with Oxford Youth Dance and then continued his formal education first at The Laban Center London and then at PARTS (Performing Arts Research and Training Studios) in Brussels.
From 2008 to 2014, Jos worked for Peeping Tom as a dancer, actor and collaborator, principally with the productions 32 Rue Vandenbranden (2009), and A Louer (2011). Since then he worked briefly for DV8 Physical Theatre on the production of John (2014).
He also teaches a wide range of classes and workshops for professional dancers and dance students at institutions across the  world

L’atelier est ouvert aux danseuses et danseurs pré-professionnel.le.s et professionnel.le.s intéressé.e.s par le métier d’interprète.
Le nombre de participants étant limité, nous vous demandons de vous inscrire en avance (date limite inscription vendredi 28 janvier 2022).

Open to pre-pro and pro dancers. Participation is limited to 15 dancers. Registration is mandatory.
