1)European Corporate Chess Championship 2024, is organized by Asnières Le Grand Echiquier, under the auspices of European Chess Union
2)Schedule: Rounds 1 à 4 : Friday, Novembre 22, 2024, from 15:00 to 19:00 Rondes 5 à 9 : Saturday November 23, 2024, from 10:00 to 17:00 Gala evening and closing ceremony on Saturday November 23 at 19:30
3)Place: City Hall of Asnières sur Seine & Salle du petit Théâtre Gala evening and closing ceremony at the castle of Asnières sur Seine.
4)The tournament is open to teams from corporate entities based in Europe. The registration deadline is November 1st 2024. Each team must provide the Chief Arbiter, before the start of the competition, with an ordered list of 4 or 5 players with the FIDE ID eventually. The order of players in the list is up to the captain. Each team is composed of 4 players and possibly one substitute.
5)The registration fee is 300 euros/registered team. A corporate entitie can register as many teams as it wishes. A welcome gift will be offered to all teams. Registration fees include: ECU registration fees, Tea, coffee and water in the playing room, Reception, with dinner cocktail at the closing ceremony at the Château d'Asnières for 5 people invited per team. Additional accompanying persons will have to pay the sum of 50 euros/person.
II – TEAMS COMPOSITION Each team : ⦁ Can only have one player over 2400 ELO (FIDE Rapid Rating - October 2024 FIDE Rating Lists) ⦁ Must include at least one player below 2000 ELO participating in each round. ⦁ For each round, at least two players on the team should have an employment relationship (or similar) with the corporate entitie they are playing for. Players are ranked in order of initial team composition (FIDE rating lists October 2024) in order to play amateurs against amateurs as much as possible. ⦁ All participants must be over 16 years old.
III – DRESS CODE It is recommended that each team wear a jacket, shirt, T-shirt or polo with the corporate entitie logo and/or name.
IV – RULES, STANDING
6)Time control: 15 minutes for the whole game, plus 5 seconds of an increment starting from move one.
7)The Laws of Chess are those in force on the date of the tournament, namely those adopted by the FIDE Congress and applicable since January 1st, 2023.
8)Team composition: Before each round, the team captain gives the referee his list of 4 players for this round, respecting the order of the initial list (cf. art. 4)
9)The Elo to take into account is, in order: FIDE Rapid Rating, then the FIDE classical. October 2024 FIDE Rating
10)Pairings will be done according the Swiss system (C.04). The average Elo of each team is calculated on all the players indicated on the team list (cf. art. 4). A player with no FIDE rating is estimated at 1500 for the calculation of this average.
11)Game points: A game won is counted 1 point; a draw is noted X and is not counted in the final score; a game lost on the chessboard is counted 0 point, a game lost by forfeit is counted – 1 point.
12)Match points: The match score is determined by the sum of the teams' match points. A negative score is reduced to 0. The team with the most points wins the match. A match won is worth 3 match points, a draw 2 match points, a match lost on the chessboard 1 match point, a match lost by forfeit 0 match point.
13)Standing: with the following criteria (in order): a)Match points b)Differential (games won – games lost) c)Game points d)Average Elo (pro rata participations) the lowest e)Youngest team A match won by forfeit or exemption is worth 3 match points, score 2-0. A match lost by forfeit earns 0 points, score of 0-4. V – PRIZE DISTRIBUTION
14)The detailed price list is as follows: 1st team: €3,000 + Trophy 2nd team: €2,000 + Trophy 3rd team: €1,000 + Trophy VI – MISCELLANEOUS
15)In the event that a doping control is carried out by a delegation commissioned by the Ministry of Sports, each participant chosen cannot refuse the tests which will be carried out by a sworn doctor.
16)Smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the building. The use of mobile phones in the playing area may result in a warning and/or the loss of the game
17)Participation in the tournament implies acceptance of these rules.
