Le Centre Artistique International Roy Hart a reçu une subvention de 18 700€ de la Direction régionale des affaires culturelles, Occitanie (Ministère de la Culture) pour son projet de numérisation et d'accessibilité de ses riches archives.
La somme reçue représente environ 38% du budget total nécessaire à la réalisation du projet à court terme. L’octroi de cette subvention est conditionné à la collecte d'une somme au moins équivalente. Il nous faut donc procéder à une levée de fonds d'au moins 18 700 € pour toucher la totalité de la subvention. Toute somme manquante sera déduite du montant total que nous recevrons du Ministère.
Il s'agit d'un événement marquant pour la préservation de l'héritage historique du Roy Hart Theatre et du Centre Artistique International Roy Hart, et aussi pour son accessibilité, son ouverture sur le monde et pour sa transmission à travers les générations. Ce projet nous permettra de bénéficier de la technologie et de la vaste portée d'Internet pour rendre ce patrimoine inestimable plus accessible à l'échelle internationale. Nos publics - étudiants, chercheurs, enseignants, pratiquants du travail de la voix, amateurs de théâtre et amoureux d'une grande histoire - pourront accéder à un large éventail de matériaux : écrits, audio, photos et vidéos.
Il y aura également une version numérique du livre à paraître d'Ivan Midderigh, qui retracera de manière visuelle l'histoire, depuis l'approche visionnaire d'Alfred Wolfsohn, jusqu'à l'expansion de cette intuition par Roy Hart et le Roy Hart Theatre et son incarnation actuelle dans le CAIRH : cent ans de photos, de programmes et d'affiches, soulignés par une narration audio.
L'histoire que ces archives représentent est notre héritage et nous vous invitons à nous aider à atteindre notre objectif afin de mettre cet héritage en ligne et accessible au public d'ici 2025.

The Centre Artistique International Roy Hart The Roy Hart International Artistic Centre needs your help to ensure that the collections, repertoire and archives of Alfred Wolfsohn, Roy Hart and the Roy Hart Theatre are preserved, opened and made accessible to the general public. Please lend your support to our appeal.
The Centre Artistique International Roy Hart has been awarded a grant of 18,700€ by the Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles, Occitanie (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs, French Ministry for Culture) for the project to digitize and make more accessible its considerable archives.
The grant awarded represents approximately 38% of the total budget required to complete the project in the immediate term. It is contingent on our raising at least the equivalent amount of 18,700 € to match the amount allocated. Any shortfall will be deducted from the total amount we will be eligible to receive.
This is a turning point in curating the historical legacy of the Roy Hart Theatre and the Centre Artistique International Roy Hart, as well as for its accessibility to the world and its transmission for generations to come. It enables us to employ technology and the vast reach of the internet to make this priceless heritage more accessible internationally. Our public - students, researchers, teachers, vocal artists and practitioners, theatre goers and lovers of a great story - will be able to access a wide range of material; written, audio, photo, and video.
There will also be an online version of Ivan Midderigh’s forthcoming book tracing the visual history from Alfred Wolfsohn’s visionary approach to the voice, to Roy Hart and Roy Hart Theatre’s expansion of that intuition to its present day embodiment in the CAIRH : a hundred years of photos, programs, and posters, underscored with an audio narrative.
This history that these archives represent is our legacy and we ask you to help us to reach our goal of putting this legacy online and accessible by the public by 2025.
Please consider making a donation to our appeal. Your generosity will help to ensure the preservation and accessibility to the public of the material legacies of Alfred Wolfsohn, Roy Hart, the Roy Hart Theatre, and the Centre Artistique International Roy Hart.

How long will the project take ?
We estimate this enormous work will take roughly 18 months to fully complete although the bulk of the project should be finished by the end of 2024.

- Technologie et outils pour numériser toutes les archives papier, audio et photos et vidéos afin de créer une base de données cohérente et complète qui sera accessible en ligne et sur place à Malérargues aux étudiants et aux chercheurs. Il s'agit notamment : d'un scanner numérique de négatifs; d’un scanner de documents; de la réparation de magnétophones à bobines et conversion des enregistrements audio en fichiers numériques; de la numérisation de films depuis différents formats (bobines, VHS, etc.)
- Transport des archives importantes de Noah Pikes depuis Zurich vers Malérargues
- Frais de déplacement et d'hébergement sur place des stagiaires qualifiés et des experts bénévoles qui seront engagés pour entreprendre les tâches de scannage, de numérisation, d'indexation et de stockage du matériel d'archives.
- Les conseils et la supervision sur place et en distanciel de nos partenaires : l'Université d’Etat du Maranhão au Brésil et AGS Records Management en France.
How will the funds raised be used ?
- Technology and tools to digitize all paper, audio and visual archives to create a coherent and comprehensive database that will be accessible both online and on-site in Malérargues to students and researchers. These include : a digital negative scanner; a document scanner; the repair of reel-to-reel tape recorder and conversion of audio recordings to digital files; the digitization of film footage in various formats (reels, VHS, etc).
- Transportation of Noah Pikes’ substantial archives from Zurich to Malérargues
- Travel and on-site accommodation costs for qualified interns and expert volunteers who will be engaged to undertake the tasks of scanning, digitizing, indexing, and storing the archival material
- On-site and virtual consultancy and oversight by our committed partners, the Federal University of Maranhão, Brazil and AGS Records Management, France.
