WHY COEXISTENCE CREW?

Coexistence Crew is born from the urgent need to give a better protection for sharks.

After 3 years fighting to end the shark fin trade in Europe with the campaign “Stop Finning - Stop the Trade” and working in Brussels at the heart of political games, our founder Anne-Sophie Mouraud realized that, one thing is sure: the fight is not over yet to save sharks and our oceans.

Because few people know it, but the EU supplies almost half of the shark fins imported by Asian markets. A major problem when you consider the vital importance of sharks for the ocean!

This is how Coexistence Crew is born, with a global vision:

~ Coexistence = because this is the only way to save sharks, the ocean and ourselves.

Crew = a collective of filmmakers, creators, activists, influencers, artists, scientists, NGOs, entrepreneurs and innovators to save sharks.

OUR MISSION

Our focus is on taking action and have an impact for sharks, all together.

Our mission relies on 3 key pillars:

  • Change the conception people have about sharks, which are more threatened than threatening: move from fear to fascination, respect and the desire to protect thanks to the power of images.
  • Raise awareness about the threats sharks are facing, in particular the shark fin trade, for which Europe bears a huge responsibility. And turn the tide.
  • Make people want to take action to save sharks and our ocean thanks to the power of the collective.

It’s time to forget about the movie “JAWS” and see sharks for what they really are: vulnerable and indispensable.

Because there is only one way to save sharks, the ocean and ourselves: COEXISTENCE.

THE FIRST MISSION OF COEXISTENCE CREW JUST STARTED AND WE NEED YOU TO HAVE AN IMPACT!

To kick off this journey to save sharks, our founder Anne-Sophie Mouraud has brought on board a team of 5 activists, influencers and entrepreneurs, as well as 2 video artists/directors, for a human adventure with impact.

An expedition with purpose

We went on a 3-day expedition to northern Spain in August to meet the blue shark, the most heavily fished shark in the world. And in Spain because, it's the number one shark fishing country in Europe (number 2 in the world) and the number one exporter of shark fins to Asia.

Because we only protect what we love, or love what we know, it's time to change the conception we have of sharks.

And this was exactly the goal of this first expedition: change the way people look at these endangered species and raise awareness of the problem of sharks are facing, and in particular the shark fin trade, for which Europe bears a huge responsibility.

The first Crew for sharks?

  • Arthur Auboeuf, co-founder of Team for the Planet
  • Johan Reboul, Le Jeune Engagé
  • Adelaide Charlier, Climate & Social Justice Activist from Belgium
  • Morgane Trussardi, Little Gypsy
  • Anne-Sophie Mouraud, our founder

And our 2 great filmmakers: Lucie Francini and Pierre Frechou.

The first Coexistence Crew on a mission to meet the world's most fished shark in the world: the blue shark.

Our mission: produce a short movie and have an impact for sharks

During this expedition, we produced absolutely unique and emotionally-charged content, while talking about an essential subject that is still too neglected given the urgency of the situation.

Discover the teaser right here!

And now, we need YOU to help us produce the short movie and amplify our message.

The goal is then to share the message as widely as possible, to change the way people think about sharks, and to give them a voice so that we can better protect them. And, above all, to raise awareness of the threats facing sharks, particularly the shark fin trade, for which Europe bears a huge responsibility.

With this short movie, we want to create new emotions, we want people move from fear to fascination, to respect and the desire to protect. Are you with us?

Sharks have existed for 450 million years, and we've lost 70-90% of shark species to human activity in less than 50 years. We need to act before it's too late!

It's time to better understand just how threatened sharks are, to reinvent a shared history that will better protect them against one of the biggest threats facing them today, and above all to show one thing: that the only way is to Coexist.

The ocean needs sharks, but today sharks need us more than ever!

And now, we need your help to spread our message and protect these formidable marine creatures. They are essential to the balance of our oceans and to our ecosystem as a whole. Their disappearance would be a tragedy for biodiversity.

The next step is to fight for stronger protection measures so that we can learn to co-exist with these species. It's time for the European Union to protect sharks rather than participate in their extinction by banning trade in shark fins within its borders.

The incredible blue shark

WHY DONATE TO COEXISTENCE CREW?

Thanks to your donation, we will be able to:

  • Produce the short movie of the first Coexistence Crew expedition
  • Promote the short movie and continue to raise awareness about the threats sharks are facing, and the shark fin trade in Europe especially, during events, conferences, talks, etc and on social media as well
  • Create new ways to communicate, amplify our message and increase our impact for sharks (we have so many ideas, we need your help to make them happen!)
  • Continue the lobbying work at the EU level and at national level

Because it’s time to forget about the movie “JAWS” and see sharks for what they really are: vulnerable and indispensable.

And most of all, there is only one way to save sharks, the ocean and ourselves: COEXISTENCE.

Together, WE are the solution.
