Presentation and Chocolate Tasting
American Chocolate expert Tom Neuhaus started Project Hope and Fairness in 2006 to alleviate the economic hardships of
West African cocoa farmers. Since then, the non-profit has focused efforts on building chocolate factories in West African villages. The average cocoa farmer receives only 6% of the retail price when engaged in commodity production but stands to earn over 40% if producing chocolate.
Tom, who recently moved to the Tarn, will lead a chocolate tasting--and there will be chocolate bars for purchase as holiday gifts and stocking stuffers.
Join us for this fascinating look at the chocolate trade--and the ecological impact and economic implications of cocoa farming. After the presentation and tasting, you are invited to stay on for a seasonal dinner at Toulouse's best known organic restaurant.
