The association Les Américains et la 6 Flotte à Villefranche-sur-Mer aims to raise awareness of the American presence in Villefranche-sur-Mer in the public at large and to the younger generation in particular.
To that end, the association collects all evidence of the Sixth Fleet’s presence in Villefranche-sur-Mer (written, spoken, photos, films, etc.) so that this history can be recorded and shared in various ways (books, brochures, websites, social networks, films, exhibitions, cultural events, educational projects, etc.) to pass on this history to our children.
For the 6th year of our existence, the educational program for schools as well as an online audio guide will be on the agenda to progress our mission to convey this History. By creating tools aimed at the general public we will also be committing ourselves to preparing the opening of a Museum area within the Citadel of Villefranche-sur-Mer combined with a dedicated space within the USS Salem Museum in Quincy, Massachusetts.
The financial support of the members of the association is a cornerstone in developing and bringing these initiatives to fruition. Join us!
