Cities will soon concentrate more than 70% of humans on Earth. Today, cities are sources of innovation and sometimes have more flexibility than States to set up the agro-ecological and food transition. Faced with the limits of the dominant agro-industrial food system, it is necessary now to build new food governance at local level: develop food autonomy and cooperation between urban and rural areas while consolidating international solidarity and exchanges of good practices.
Let’s Food is a non-profit organization aiming at facilitating cooperation between territories to accelerate the transition to more sustainable and resilient food systems. The NGO was founded in June 2017 in order to build the Let's Food Cities project, which aimed to support the transition of 14 territories around the world towards a sustainable, local and resilient food system.
We are currently in the final stage of this project and are finalizing our 14 food system sustainability assessment reports. Communication events in each of our 7 French pilot cities have been postponed until next year (following the COVID-19 crisis) but you can find all the films produced on our Youtube channel, the summaries on our website and the 350 initiatives collected around the world (available in French, English and Spanish) on our Food Ideas platform.
You can follow our progress on Facebook, Linkedin and Instagram.
After the Let’s Food Cities project, we decided to keep our activities going, renew our governance and build new projects, new partnerships!
In the program :
support in building cross-border cooperation on sustainable food,
monitoring of cooperation initiated during the Let's Food Cities project (between Montpellier and Fez, or Grenoble and Sfax),
raising awareness and training local authorities to set up food cooperations
training students on sustainable food systems, etc.
Faced with the budgetary restrictions of local authorities, the workload increase due to the multiplication of small projects and numerous requests that we wish to continue to carry out free of charge (awareness-raising, conferences, exchanges with students, etc. .), we are making the choice today to set up a membership for those who wish to support the association and its development.
Very concretely, this money allows us to start the year with a small budget in order to ensure a part of our salaries and to facilitate the lean periods between projects which will turn out to be quite random. In short, it allows us to continue our commitment, which is today too little recognized, too little funded despite its role for the general interest or even public service: ensuring the food resilience of territories.
The Let's Food Cities project today brings together an ecosystem of more than 350 students, professionals, volunteers, activists, curious people... This membership system makes it possible to formalize their commitment. Members will be invited to participate and vote at our Annual “Assemblée Générale”, will also receive regular information about the association through our newsletter. We have also been working for 3 years with a group of a hundred volunteers who help us on different missions and whom we try to best support in their professional development. By becoming a volunteer member of the Let's Food association, you also gain access to the LFC Facebook and LinkedIn groups in order to benefit from this professional mutual aid network as well as have access to a food watch in France and abroad. We organize bi-monthly Skype with the volunteers in order to meet and exchange on the current missions (organization of events, proofreading of documents, contribution to the platform Let's Food Ideas, animation of the community, etc.) ...
Membership is free and conscious to allow 1. Reflection in the act of purchase, 2. The participation of each according to his means.
Thank you for your contributions which, whatever they are, always motivate us :)
Anna, Louison, Lise, Thomé and all the volunteers!
