This year I'm a solidarity runner for the 90KM of the 2019 Marathon du Mont Blanc!
Please help support "Vaincre les Maladies Lysosomales" (VML) - "Overcome Lysosomal Storage Diseases" by making a small donation.
My goal is to reach 800 Euros. Lysosomal Storage Disease affects the daily lives of patients and their families. Patients need constant care and attention. With this amount the VML can finance a weekend stay for a family. This is a vital part of their support program as it gives families a safe environment to take a breath. A volunteer carer comes along to the weekend to relief family members of their caring duties. This way they get to create memories and enjoy the moment.
Below some more information on the disease and the association:
Lysosomal storage diseases (Les Maladies Lysosomales) are inherited metabolic diseases that are characterized by an abnormal build-up of various toxic materials in the body's cells as a result of enzyme deficiencies. There are nearly 50 of these disorders altogether, and they may affect different parts of the body, including the skeleton, brain, skin, heart, and central nervous system. New lysosomal storage disorders continue to be identified and affect both children and adults.
The ultimate goal of the association is the healing of the sick. This involves financial support for research programs that have already produced concrete results. However, performing research is a lengthy process. This is why the association has developed numerous daily support services for patients and their families (social service, listening, information, organization of respite stays and family/expert meeting weekends).
The VML is an association of Patients, created in 1990. It is recognized by Public Utility since 2006, certified by the Label IDEAS and approved by the "Trusted Donation" of the Committee of the Charter. Their accounts and the use of all donations are published on their website in full transparency.
